Poco C40: a Redmi 10C with 6000mAh and a different chipset; what we think

Look Poco C40 opinions and price in Romania. Today we decided to present you the first entry-level phone launched by the Poco brand (subdivision of Xiaomi).

In recent years, Poco has accustomed us to mid-range terminals, among which many models have crept in that contain high-end components (chipset, display, storage, memory, fast charging). Among these models we mention Poco F4/X4 GT/F4 GT/F3.

This is how the manufacturer turns its attention to the entry-level segment and launches the Poco C40 smartphone. The device is a decent phone that caught our eye through 2 hardware aspects: battery and chipset.

We capture the introduction with details about the price. The terminal is for sale in Romania and the prices are as follows:

# 3GB RAM/32GB: quickmobile.ro – 726 lei; evomag.ro – 839 lei

# 4GB RAM/64GB: quickmobile.ro – 799 lei; evomag.ro – 907 lei

Poco C40 opinions – SOME OBSERVATIONS

First of all, let us tell you that the GadgetLab team had the opportunity to test various Poco terminals recently.

The latest review published by us is for the Poco F4 smartphone (Snapdragon 870, AMOLED 120Hz, 67W charging).

Then, we tested the Poco X4 GT (review) and Poco F4 GT (review) terminals. We are not done yet 🙂 We take advantage of the opportunity and invite you to go through the Romanian Poco X4 Pro 5G review.

And now let’s focus on the subject of the day, in the matter of Poco C40. Let’s start with the chipset part. Xiaomi opted for a propellant made by JLQ Technology, a Chinese company from Shanghai that deals with the production of semiconductors. The chipset used by the Poco terminal is called JLQ JR510.

The chipset has the following features: 4 cores Cortex A55 2.0GHz + 4 cores Cortex A55 1.5GHz, graphics processor Mali G57 MC1 (1 graphics core), Samsung FinFET 11nm technology, eMMC 5.1/UFS 2.1 storage support, connectivity support 4G and support for LPDDR4x type memory.

Obviously, the chipset does not bring anything that will break the market. On the performance side, the JLQ JR510 processor behaves reasonably.

We looked on YouTube and discovered that the Poco C40 reaches an Antutu 9 score of over 132,000 points. The score is weak, but decent for an entry-level chipset/phone 🙂

Poco C40 reviews

The interesting and not surprising aspect is that the terminal has many common parts with the budget smartphone Xiaomi Redmi 10C. Among these we mention the 6.71-inch HD+ LCD display, UFS 2.2 storage, 5 megapixel selfie camera, 18W fast charging and the connectivity part.

We would like to inform you that the Redmi 10C smartphone has a 5000mAh battery combo + the super efficient Snapdragon 680 (6nm) chipset.

From our own experience, we tell you that Snapdragon 680 powered phones ensure excellent autonomy. We state this in the context in which we tested 2 phones with the SD680 chipset. It is about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 and Motorola Moto G52 terminals (Romanian review).

Poco C40 uses the 6000mAh battery combo + JLQ JR510 chipset (11nm). Hmmm… It is interesting that the phone has a 1000mAh battery more than the Redmi 10C. What can we learn from this?

Obviously, the JLQ JR510 chipset cannot be as efficient as the Snapdragon 680 (11nm vs 6nm).

To be sure that the Poco C40 delivers an autonomy similar or close to that of the Redmi 10C, Xiaomi has added an extra 1000mAh to the battery on the Poco C40. At least that’s what we think.

Poco C40 reviews – FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, the Poco C40 is a decent smartphone. However, we recommend that you ignore the 6000mAh battery and go for the Redmi 10C terminal. The device has a clearly superior chipset and this aspect cannot be overlooked.

Besides that, the smartphone is a bit cheaper than the Poco C40. Please note that the 4GB RAM/64GB version of Redmi 10C can be found online (Altex) for 700 lei.
